The All-Ukrainian Union of Public Organizations “Association of Animal Protection Organizations of Ukraine” presented a report on its activities for 2019-2022.

Key Legislation

AZOU developed seven draft laws together with KECC, including the most significant — Draft No. 2351 dated 30.10.2019, which entered into force on November 8, 2021. This law provided for: regulation of animal populations through biosterilization, strengthening criminal and administrative liability for animal cruelty, establishing protection for farm animals, and banning euthanasia of stray animals and keeping predators in unsuitable places.

Together with UAnimals, two draft laws were developed, including No. 7438 dated 06.06.2022 on pyrotechnic products (adopted).

Other Activities

AZOU: participated in working groups on veterinary medicine legislation; monitored and analyzed draft laws; developed the List of Dangerous Dog Breeds for the Ministry of Environment; cooperated with international organizations; provided humanitarian aid to animals during the full-scale invasion; developed procedures for temporary animal seizure; conducted training for police and engaged in educational work.
