Working Meeting at Kryvyi Rih City Council

AZOU

On June 6, 2017, a working meeting dedicated to humane methods of stray animal population control took place at the Kryvyi Rih City Council.

The meeting was attended by AZOU Vice President Maryna Surkova, “Animal Aid League” board member Iryna Podvoyska, head of the “Ray of Life” organization Yana Finenko, and city volunteers.

Participants discussed the prospects of building a “Center for Temporary Care, Rehabilitation, and Adoption of Stray Animals.” The main focus was on implementing a pet sterilization program to prevent the birth of unwanted offspring.

The city council leadership planned to study Lviv’s experience in animal management and was considering cooperation with the Austrian organization “Four Paws,” which provides free sterilization of stray animals through agreements with municipalities.

The creation of an electronic pet registration database and dog identification through tags or microchipping were also discussed.
