Ukrainian Parliament Passed Bill 2351!

On July 15, 2021, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed bill No. 2351 on animal protection. 285 MPs voted for the bill.

The bill strengthens criminal and administrative liability for animal cruelty. Criminal liability is established from age 14 and administrative liability from age 16.

The document criminalizes violent acts against animals and promotion of animal cruelty. It bans foie gras production and introduces additional requirements for handling farm animals.

The bill prohibits euthanasia of stray animals as a population control method, killing of newborn offspring, commercial photography with animals, and begging with animals. It bans giving animals as prizes, keeping pets chained shorter than 20 meters, walling up animals in basements, and keeping predators in unsuitable places.
