Ukraine officially joined the European Convention on the Protection of Vertebrate Animals Used for Experimental and Other Scientific Purposes.

This was announced by Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Dmytro Kuleba: “I signed on behalf of Ukraine the European Convention for the Protection of Vertebrate Animals Used for Experimental and Other Scientific Purposes.”

The European Convention on the Protection of Vertebrate Animals is an international legal document that establishes standards for the humane treatment of animals during scientific research. The Convention was signed in Strasbourg in 1986.

This step demonstrates Ukraine’s commitment to harmonizing its legislation with European animal protection standards and supporting international norms for the ethical conduct of scientific experiments.
