AZOU and URSA Prevented Animal Destruction in Voronkiv Community
AZOU Vice President Maryna Surkova and URSA head Yaroslava Koba visited the head of the Boryspil District Military Administration to discuss the anti-epizootic commission’s decision to destroy stray dogs and cats in the Voronkiv community.
The organizations’ representatives submitted an official appeal from AZOU demanding that animal cruelty be prevented and current Ukrainian legislation not be violated.
The administration head assured the delegation that he would address the issue and guaranteed that no one would destroy dogs and cats in the Voronkiv community. He also promised to review the commission’s protocol and remove the relevant post.
During negotiations, it was revealed that the Voronkiv community had no Program for Humane Regulation of Stray Animal Populations and had not previously dealt with such matters. Sterilization was carried out exclusively by volunteers.
Maryna Surkova and Yaroslava Koba conducted educational work with officials on the importance of humane treatment of animals and the necessity of sterilizing stray and domestic animals.
AZOU also submitted an official appeal to the Voronkiv community.
